Saudi Arabia: 2 more sites to follow Madain Saleh

The Saudi Gazette  July 10, 2008   --  JEDDAH – After Madain Saleh, two more sites will soon be in line for approval as international heritage sites.


Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of the General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, said the commission would nominate two more sites after meeting UNESCO’s conditions and requirements. Work is in progress to implement the conditions in Dir’iyah at Riyadh and in historic places at Jeddah.

Meanwhile a team has been formed to promote and market Jeddah as a tourist destination.

Jeddah Governor Prince Mesh’al Bin Majed has approved the recommendations of Jeddah’s Council of Tourist Development, which in addition to tourism includes marketing investment opportunities in the Red Sea coastal city. – SG
